Chronic Migraine, Hyperhidrosis and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain/Spasms

Our healthcare providers can help with a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan to help you manage Chronic Migraine, Hyperhidrosis, or Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) Pain/Spasms.

Chronic Migraine

Chronic Migraine is a neurological condition that is characterized by recurrent, severe headaches that can last for hours to days. Migraines are often accompanied by nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and sometimes aura (visual disturbances). Genetics and environmental factors may cause migraines, and triggers may include certain foods, hormonal changes, stress, and lack of sleep.

Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is characterized by excessive sweating beyond what is necessary for regulating body temperature. It can affect various body parts, including the hands, feet, underarms, and face. Primary hyperhidrosis is often genetic, while secondary hyperhidrosis may be due to conditions such as diabetes, thyroid issues, or infections. Hyperhidrosis frequently leads to unnecessary embarrassment and emotional distress for patients who may not be aware that effective treatments can significantly enhance their quality of life.

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Pain/Spasm

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects the jaw to the skull. TMJ pain or dysfunction involves discomfort or pain in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. Symptoms may include chronic jaw clenching, jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds when opening or closing the mouth, difficulty chewing, and facial pain. TMJ pain can be caused by a jaw injury, arthritis, teeth grinding (bruxism), and stress.

Botox Injections

Botox works by inhibiting the release of certain neurotransmitters involved in pain signalling. It is injected into specific muscles around the head and neck to reduce muscle contractions and tension. If you are considering Botox for the above conditions, ask your doctor for a referral to consult with our healthcare provider, who will assess your medical history and migraine patterns and determine if Botox is an appropriate treatment option for you. Patients may get reimbursed for their Botox injections via their private insurance.
